What Happened to the AANPCB CE Log? What NPs Need to Know
Reviewed August 2026 · 3 min read
If you signed into your AANPCB account expecting to find the continuing education records you'd been keeping there and couldn't see them, you're not imagining it.
The certification board recently changed its renewal process—and the way CE documentation appears in your account changed with it.
Here's what we know.
Your previous CE records haven't necessarily disappeared
In an April 2026 recertification update, AANPCB said CE documentation is temporarily not visible within online accounts.
Importantly, it also said that CE records previously submitted remain on file and that visibility is expected to return. NPs who need copies of previously submitted records immediately can contact the certification board to request their CE log and certificates.
So this isn't the same as AANPCB announcing that all existing CE records have been deleted.
The renewal process has changed
Under the current process, NPs renewing their certification attest that they've met the applicable renewal requirements.
Supporting documentation such as CE certificates and practice verification is not routinely submitted with the renewal application. Instead, documentation may be requested if the application is selected for audit.
In other words:
- You still need to meet the requirements.
- You still need documentation.
- You just may not need to submit that documentation when you initially apply for renewal.
Does this mean you no longer need to keep CE certificates?
No.
NPCB specifically instructs renewal applicants to maintain documentation because it can be requested during an audit. Its current guidance says verification of CE and other renewal activities should be retained for two years following the renewal deadline.
That's an important distinction: not routinely submitting documentation does not mean you no longer need documentation.
What about the AANP CE Tracker?
This is another easy source of confusion because AANP and AANPCB are separate organizations.
AANPCB's April 2026 announcement specifically states that these changes do not affect the AANP CE Tracker. It says the AANP tracker remains functional and can still be used to share CE with AANPCB.
So if you've been using the AANP CE Tracker rather than maintaining CE directly through your certification-board account, don't assume it has been discontinued.
What should you do now?
Whatever system you choose, this is a good reminder that your professional records are worth maintaining independently.
Keep a record of your completed CE, identify applicable pharmacology hours, retain certificates or other documentation, and periodically make sure your records match the requirements for your current certification cycle.
The system doesn't need to be complicated.
It just needs to be one you'll actually maintain for five years.
Your CE record belongs to your career
Portals change. Employers change. Certification processes change.
Your education comes with you.
Keeping an organized record of what you've earned gives you something much more useful than a pile of certificates: a professional history you can find when you need it.
